Who is NEW Wilderness Alliance?

The NEW Wilderness Alliance which started in June 2010, is a collaborative approach to optimizing the quality of life for all people, plants and animals that live in Northeastern Wisconsin. A regional collaborative approach will garner additional resources.

The NEW Wilderness Alliance has also been in the planning stages of an exciting project, a massive collaborative effort to clean up the Fox River and Bay of Green Bay Watershed to make the Bay swimmable and thus become part of the Great Lakes coastline, which will enhance our community’s economic, social and environmental health.

To accomplish this, we need to use best practices to reduce non-point source pollution from agriculture, municipalities, and industry for the reduction of sediment including phosphorous. Grants will help fund specific projects. Also, the business and farm community’s are giving us their full support. This work is being coordinated by NEW Wilderness Alliance and is building on close to 40 years of environmental research and monitoring, current GIS mapping of hotspots, and the communities emotional, historic, and cultural ties to the water.
